I have always loved various forms of handwork. At an early age my mother taught me how to sew. Just basic hand sewing on little Christmas ornaments with felt and sequins. At sixteen I started to crochet and embroidery. At the ripe old age of 51 I finally found rug hooking thanks to my friend, Pamela Damico. I must say of all the handwork I have accomplished in my lifetime, rug hooking is the most rewarding.
Pam came to stay at my home in Fredericksburg during the Star of Texas Rug Camp. I became captivated with the fabrics, textures, art and techniques of rug hooking. Once I went to the visitor day to view all the rugs that were hooked or being hooked I was definitely "hooked"!
That same day I purchased a hook, frame and pattern.
I've always enjoyed drawing and painting. When I decided to try my hand at designing my own rugs, my buddy, Pam, was there to give me the thumbs up or the thumbs down. We keep the internet waves busy going back and forth with new ideas. Since I began hooking, I have met some wonderful ladies. What a great club and sisterhood "hookers" make!
I hope you enjoy my website. As you can see, we have rugs for sale that I have completed as well as patterns. All these rugs are drawn on 100% linen. The utmost care is used to be sure patterns are on the straight grain along with a large enough border for easy stretching on your frame.
Once you complete one of my rug designs, please email or mail a copy of your rug along with your name and city/State. We will post them on the website so everyone can see your creativity with color choices, textures and borders!
I now have my own storefront open! Very exciting! I am handling all rug hooking supplies along with yarns, needlepoint, embroidery, needlepunch, needlefelting.....My shop is located on the courthouse square in downtown Brady, Texas. Address: 113 E. Main Street, Brady, Texas 76825 325-597-2277.
Please stop by for a visit if you are in our area!
Thanks to you all!
